Train to Teach
At Queensbury Academy, we work with local partnerships to train the next generation of teachers hosting trainee teachers undertaking school-based training.
What is School-Based Training?
School-based teacher training is a great route to gaining the skills and qualifications you need to become a teacher, a one-year programme, where you can make a difference from day one, immersed in school life, learning the theory of teaching and putting it into practice daily!
There are several local routes through which you can train to teach at Queensbury, such as the Chiltern Training Group, the University of Bedfordshire, or our primary provider Teach First.
Training with Teach First
Our school is proud to be part of Anthem Schools Trust, who are working in partnership with Teach First. With 20 years’ experience as the largest Initial Teacher Training provider in the country – and their teacher training rated as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted – they have worked with a range of educational experts and school leaders to develop this high-quality, research-led programme.
Train through this route and you’ll be in the classroom from September 2025 and benefit from the support of a trained mentor. At the end of our programme, you’ll be awarded qualified teacher status (QTS) and a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE).
